Our recipe idea for May
This time we chose a classic and traditional asparagus recipe. We have prepared delicious white asparagus with vegan hollandaise sauce, boiled potatoes and schnitzel for you in our content kitchen. Finding recipes this time was particularly hard because we had a hard time deciding between great asparagus recipes. Luckily, the season is just starting, so you can still feast on asparagus quite often. Cheers to asparagus season!
In addition to the great taste of asparagus, it is also very healthy. Asparagus consists of 93% water and is therefore very low in calories. Asparagus is also good for digestion, gently dehydrates and thanks to the high vitamin C content, the spears also strengthen our immune system. Asparagus also contains important minerals such as potassium. Potassium has, among other things, lowering blood pressure. Asparagus also contains a lot of folic acid, which is important for metabolic processes, cell division and new cell formation.

Seasonal products in May
In May the asparagus season is in full swing. So that you can find the freshest and best asparagus the next time you buy asparagus, here are some tips on what you can look out for:
- The asparagus spears are easy to break, have no cracks and are not flexible.
- When the rods rub together they squeak.
- The sticks should have a silky shine and smell pleasant.
- The asparagus spears can be easily scratched with your fingernail.
In addition, as already mentioned, many salads can be purchased as outdoor products. Some vegetables, such as cauliflower or broccoli, are now also available fresh from local, regional cultivation. Only the fruit lags a bit behind. You can already find strawberries from regional cultivation, but only from protected cultivation under foil or fleece.
If you want a little color on your plate, then radishes are ideal here. The slightly spicy and reddish tuber vegetable goes very well with salads or is perfect as a delicious raw food snack. By the way, the mustard oil it contains is responsible for the spicy note of the radishes. In nature, this protects the vegetables from predators.
Now have fun shopping and enjoy the growing variety of local products!
